The Sant Gadge Maharaj College was established in the year 1972. It is permanently affiliated with University of Mumbai and included in 2(f) & 12(b) of UGC Act 1956. The college imparts education at Research,Post Graduate ,Graduate and Undergraduate (Junior College) level in field of commerce and Management studies. College offers Ph.D in Commerce at Research level, M.Com in Advance Accountancy & M.Com in Business Management at Post-Graduate Level, B.Com & B.M.S at Graduate Level and FYJC, SYJC Commerce at Undergraduate level. The Junior College (FYJC 11th & SYJC 12th) is affiliated to Maharashtra State Board. The B.Com Program and Junior College is Government Aided and BMS, M.Com, Ph.D Program are self finance . The Fees of various program is as per University of Mumbai’s Fee structure from time to time .
Along with academic growth of students college concentrate on personality development of students through various activities conducted by college various departments like Students Council, National service scheme ,Department of Life Long learning & Extension , Women Development Cell , Nature Club, Humane Watch and Sports. College motivates students to participate in various Inter college competition at University level and Inter College Level. College conducts Industrial visit, Court Visit,Port visit to make students aware of working pattern in real world.
Our College provides Free Internet facilities in computer lab and Library to students for educational project . College provides facilities of part payment to economic backward class students as well as provide Government scholarship to eligible students as per government rule .
The College has separate Indoor Gymkhana facilities for Boys and Girls Students. In Indoor gymkhana games like table tennis, Carrom, Chess is provided. For Outdoor games like Cricket& Football , grounds are hire. College Annual Sports event is conducted at University Pavilion ,Marine Lines.
The College has Health clinic in campus for medical help to students when needed.
Our College Library is having good number of books, magazine, reference books & News paper’s for students to enhance knowledge.
The College Placement cell provides placement opportunity to students by inviting companies , employers to conduct placement interview in campus. College also invite academy like ICCI ,Times of India, Hindustan Times etc for skill development and placement.
The college has SMS system to communicate with students and parents and update them regularly with activities in college.
ABOUT BHARAT EDUCATION SOCIETY
The Bharat Education Society was started in 1948 by our founder Late Shri Bhausaheb D Palkandwar, Great Educationist , Freedom Fighter and Social worker.
He was awarded Basawaratna by Late Dr Zail Singh ,Ex-President of India.
The Main objective of starting the Bharat Education Society was to provide education to the under privileged in South Mumbai especially in Khetwadi area. In 1948 the khetwadi area consisted of most of people working in Mills in Mumbai and so many were belonging to economic weaker section and backward in Education. We are proud that Our society was blessed with visit of Spiritual leaders Rashtra Sant Tukdoji Maharaj and Sant Gadge Maharaj from time to time
Our Society also received guidance in our journey from social workers , politician, Industries , Educationist among them notable Late Padmavibhushan Dr Usha Mehta ( Ex Chairperson of B.E Society) , Late V.R. Nimkar, (Ex-President of B.E Society), Late Shri Kannamwar ( Ex-CM of Maharashtra) Late Shri S.Nijalingappa (Ex-CM of Karnataka), Late R.R Kanabar ( Ex-President of B.E.Society & R.R Paint proprietor). Late Dr B.D Jatti ( Ex Vice President of India).
Our Society during Pre Independence days started Marathi medium School Known as Sardar High School and after Post Independence started Junior and Degree College in 1972 as Bharat College of commerce & Economics at present Known as Sant Gadge Maharaj College of Commerce & Economics
